AI로 증상 없는 만성질환 합병증 찾는다… 아크-자이메드, 망막 기반 인공지능 플랫폼 이달 중 출시 예정! AI to Detect Asymptomatic Complications of Chronic Diseases… Arc-Zymed to Launch Retina-Based AI Platform This Month!

 의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 아크(대표 김형회)와 자이메드(대표 박상민)가 만성질환 합병증 조기 발견을 위한 협력을 추진하며, 이달 중 망막 기반 인공지능 플랫폼을 출시할 예정입니다. 양사는 망막 영상 기반 인공지능 기술을 통해 증상 없는 만성질환 합병증 환자를 신속히 발견하는 스크리닝 기술을 확대하고자 합니다.

자이메드는 안저 이미지를 분석해 심혈관 질환 위험도를 예측하는 인공지능 기술을 보유하고 있으며, 아크는 당뇨망막병증, 녹내장, 황반변성 등 실명 질환을 식별하는 기술을 개발하여 현재 다수 의료기관에서 활용 중입니다. 이번 협력을 통해 양사는 병원과 건강검진기관을 넘어 다양한 의료 환경에서 AI 기반 질환 스크리닝 서비스를 확장하고, 확보한 데이터를 토대로 디지털 헬스케어 시장 확대에 나설 계획입니다.

특히 아크는 AI 분석 소프트웨어와 안저 촬영 장비를 모두 보유한 통합 구조를 갖추고 있어, 기술적 시너지 효과를 창출합니다. 양사는 해외 시장 진출도 공동 추진하여 글로벌 확장을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

이번 협력은 부산대학교 의과대학 김형회 교수(아크 대표)와 서울대학교 의과대학 박상민 교수(자이메드 대표) 등 대학병원 교수들이 창업한 의료 AI 기업 간 협력이라는 점에서 주목됩니다.

아크는 최근 200억 원 규모 시리즈 A 투자 유치와 NH투자증권과의 상장 주관 계약 체결로 기업공개(IPO)를 준비 중이며, 아파트 커뮤니티 기반 주거 헬스케어 서비스 ‘SANVEL(상벨)’을 론칭해 예방 중심 건강 관리 모델 구축에 앞장서고 있습니다.

Arc AI, led by CEO Kim Hyung-hoe, and Zymed, led by CEO Park Sang-min, two medical AI companies, are collaborating to enable early detection of chronic disease complications. They plan to launch a retina-based AI platform later this month. The partnership aims to expand screening technology that rapidly detects asymptomatic chronic disease complication patients using retina image-based AI technology.

Zymed possesses AI technology that analyzes fundus images to predict cardiovascular disease risk, developing systems to assess coronary and carotid artery atherosclerosis risks based on retinal vascular data. Arc has developed AI technology to detect vision-threatening diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, currently used by numerous medical institutions in Korea.

Through this collaboration, both companies plan to expand AI-based disease screening services beyond hospitals and health checkup centers, into diverse medical settings, while leveraging collected data to grow the digital healthcare market.

Notably, Arc has an integrated system combining AI analytic software and fundus imaging equipment, creating technological synergy unique in the industry. Both firms also aim to jointly enter overseas digital healthcare markets to globalize retina-based AI medical technologies.

This cooperation is significant as it involves medical AI startups founded by university hospital professors: Professor Kim Hyung-hoe of Pusan National University College of Medicine (Arc CEO) and Professor Park Sang-min of Seoul National University College of Medicine (Zymed CEO).

Arc recently completed a series A funding round worth approximately 20 billion KRW and signed an underwriting agreement with NH Investment & Securities to prepare for an initial public offering (IPO). Additionally, Arc launched ‘SANVEL,’ an apartment community-based residential healthcare service, leading new preventive health management models within living spaces.
