서울시립하이서울유스호스텔 청소년 통역봉사단 ‘유스굿윌가이드’ 16기, 외국인 관광객 대상 본격 통역 가이드 활동 돌입! Seoul Metropolitan Hi Seoul Youth Hostel Youth Interpretation Volunteer Corps ‘Youth Goodwill Guides’ 16th Cohort Begins Full-Scale Interpretation Guide Activities for Foreign Tourists!

 서울특별시가 설립하고 한국청소년연맹이 위탁 운영하는 시립하이서울유스호스텔 소속 청소년 통역봉사단 ‘유스굿윌가이드’ 16기 단원들이 4월 4일 경복궁과 인사동 일대에서 마지막 모의가이드를 성공적으로 마친 뒤 2026년 외국인 관광객 대상 통역 가이드 활동을 본격 시작했다. 16기 신입 단원 26명은 4차례에 걸친 실전 훈련을 통해 가이드 역량을 강화했다.

유스굿윌가이드는 서울시 청소년정책에 따라 국제문화교류 및 글로벌 역량 강화를 목적으로 운영되며, 영어·일본어·중국어·프랑스어 등 다양한 외국어에 능통한 대학생으로 구성되어 있다. 누적 가이드 참가자 7,100명을 넘어서며 서울을 대표하는 청소년 봉사단으로 자리매김했다.

이번 활동에서 단원들은 경복궁, 인사동 탐방과 서울관광재단이 주관한 도보해설관광 참여를 통해 전문 해설사와 현장 감각을 높였다. 3월부터는 일본, 스페인, 독일 등 다양한 국적의 외국인 관광객을 대상으로 실제 통역 가이드를 수행하며 경험을 쌓아가고 있다.

앞으로 유스굿윌가이드는 외국인 청소년과의 문화교류, 서울 주요 축제 및 행사 통역 지원 등 다양한 분야에서 활발한 활동을 펼칠 예정이다.

또한, 시립하이서울유스호스텔은 개관 15주년을 맞아 2026년 3월부터 12월까지 ‘15년의 기록, 함께 만드는 하이서울’ 프로젝트를 추진하며, 방문객 참여형 행사와 전시, SNS 이벤트 등을 통해 이용자 만족도와 기관 브랜드 가치를 높일 계획이다.

The Youth Goodwill Guide (YGG) 16th class, a youth interpretation volunteer group under the Seoul Metropolitan Hi Seoul Youth Hostel—which was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and operates under the Korea Youth Federation—successfully completed their final mock guide tour on April 4th at Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Insadong area. Following these exercises, they officially commenced interpretation guide activities for foreign tourists in 2026. The 16th class, consisting of 26 new members, enhanced their guide skills through four rounds of practical field training.

Operated under Seoul’s youth policy to promote international cultural exchange and strengthen global competencies, YGG comprises university students proficient in diverse foreign languages including English, Japanese, Chinese, and French. Having surpassed 7,100 cumulatively guided tourists, the program has solidified its position as a representative youth volunteer group of Seoul.

During their recent activities, members explored key historical sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insadong, participating in a guided walking tour organized by the Seoul Tourism Foundation. Collaborating with professional interpreters, they refined both their expertise and on-site guidance skills. Since March, these volunteers have gained practical experience by guiding tourists of various nationalities, including those from Japan, Spain, and Germany.

Looking ahead, YGG plans to expand its activities to include cultural exchanges with foreign youth, interpretation support at major Seoul festivals and events, and diverse other fields.

Additionally, in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Hi Seoul Youth Hostel, a project titled “15 Years of Records, Creating Hi Seoul Together” will be held from March through December 2026. This commemorative initiative features participatory programs, exhibitions, and SNS events, aiming to enhance visitor engagement and further promote the hostel’s brand value.

Hong Seung-hyun, Head of the Hi Seoul Youth Hostel, expressed pride in the YGG members serving as private diplomats spreading Seoul’s charm worldwide. He emphasized the hostel’s ongoing commitment to support youth development into globally competent talents.
