삼성물산 건설부문은 국내 최초로 외부 전력망 없이 100% 태양광 에너지만을 활용한 오프그리드(Off-grid) 기반 그린수소 생산 시설을 경북 김천시에 준공했다고 3월 25일 밝혔다. 이 시설은 하루 0.6톤, 연간 230톤 이상의 그린수소를 생산하며, 수소차 충전소 등 지역 수소 인프라에 공급될 예정이다.
오프그리드(off-grid)는 외부에서 전기, 가스 등 에너지를 제공받지 않고 직접 에너지를 생산하는 방식으로 삼성물산의 이번 사업은 태양광(8.3MW) 발전과 수전해(10MW) 설비를 통합한 그린수소 생산 모델로, 삼성물산은 설계·시공부터 운영·유지관리까지 전 과정을 수행하며 수전해 설비 국산화와 해외 사업 진출을 준비하고 있다.
삼성물산은 그린수소와 암모니아를 미래 친환경 에너지의 핵심으로 삼아 글로벌 시장에서 관련 사업을 확대 중이며, 국내 수소·암모니아 저장 및 공급 인프라에도 적극 참여하고 있다.
이로써 삼성물산은 친환경 에너지 분야에서 기술 경쟁력을 강화하고, 국내외 대규모 그린수소 프로젝트를 주도할 기반을 마련했다.
Samsung C&T Construction Division announced on March 25 the completion of South Korea’s first off-grid green hydrogen production facility in Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, which operates solely on 100% solar energy without relying on external power grids. The facility produces 0.6 tons of green hydrogen daily and over 230 tons annually, supplying hydrogen infrastructure such as local hydrogen vehicle charging stations.
The off-grid system means producing energy independently without receiving electricity or gas from outside sources. This project integrates an 8.3MW solar power generation system with a 10MW water electrolysis (water-splitting) facility to produce green hydrogen. Samsung C&T undertook the full EPC scope, including design, construction, operation, and maintenance, while preparing to localize water electrolysis equipment and expand into overseas markets.
Samsung C&T regards green hydrogen and ammonia as key future eco-friendly energy sources and is actively expanding related projects globally. It is also involved in domestic infrastructure development for hydrogen and ammonia storage and supply.
Through this project, Samsung C&T has strengthened its technological competitiveness in the clean energy sector and established a solid foundation to lead large-scale green hydrogen projects both domestically and internationally.
