프로당구 왕중왕전 ‘2026 PBA-LPBA 제주 월드챔피언십’ 이변 속출! The '2026 PBA-LPBA Jeju World Championship', the king of billiards competition, is full of surprises!

 2026년 3월 8일부터 제주 한라체육관에서 열린 ‘2026 PBA-LPBA 제주 월드챔피언십’은 시즌 상위 랭커 32명이 참가하는 프로당구 왕중왕전이다. 남녀부 모두 3쿠션 세트제로 진행되며, 조별리그 후 토너먼트 방식으로 우승자를 가린다. 총상금은 6억 원이며, 남자부 우승엔 2억 원, 여자부 우승엔 1억 원이 수여된다.

여자부(LPBA)에서는 ‘당구 여제’ 김가영(하나카드)이 1차전 승리 후 2차전에서 패해 16강 최종전 진출을 앞두고 있으며, ‘캄보디아 특급’ 스롱 피아비(우리금융캐피탈)는 조별리그 2패로 조기 탈락했다. 16강 진출자는 정수빈, 김세연, 차유람, 임정숙, 백민주, 이우경 등이다.

남자부(PBA)는 3월 9일 기준 조별리그 승자전과 패자전이 진행 중이며, 스페인 출신 다니엘 산체스(웰컴저축은행)와 세미 사이그너(웰컴저축은행)가 패자전 맞대결을 펼쳐 한 명은 탈락한다. 산체스는 1차전에서 조건휘(SK렌터카)에 패했고, 사이그너도 김종원(웰컴저축은행)에 완패하는 등 이변이 많았다. 이번 대회부터 적용된 그룹 스위스 스테이 룰에 따라 2패 시 탈락한다.

남녀 모두 세계적 강자들의 경쟁이 치열한 가운데, 각 선수들의 향후 경기 결과와 진출 여부에 큰 관심이 집중되고 있다.

2026 PBA-LPBA Jeju World Championship, held from March 8 at Jeju Halla Gymnasium, is a pro billiards showdown featuring the season’s top 32 ranked players. Both men’s (PBA) and women’s (LPBA) divisions compete in a 3-cushion set format, starting with group stages followed by knockout rounds. The total prize pool is 600 million KRW, with the men’s champion awarded 200 million KRW and the women’s champion receiving 100 million KRW.

In the women’s division, billiards queen Kim Ga-young (Hana Card) won her first match but lost the second, advancing to the final 16 knockout match. “Cambodia Express” Thorng Piab (Woori Financial Capital) was eliminated early after two group stage losses. The confirmed women’s last 16 include Jung Soo-bin, Kim Se-yeon, Cha Yu-ram, Lim Jeong-sook, Baek Min-ju, and Lee Woo-kyung.

In the men’s division, as of March 9, group stage winner and loser matches continue. Spanish legend Daniel Sanchez (Welcome Savings Bank) and “Mr. Magic” Semi Saigner (Welcome Savings Bank) face off in a knockout loser’s match where one will be eliminated. Both have suffered surprising defeats: Sanchez lost 2-3 to Jo Geon-hwi (SK Rent-a-Car), and Saigner was swept 0-3 by Kim Jong-won (Welcome Savings Bank). Under this tournament’s new Group Swiss Stay Rule, two losses mean elimination.
