 방송작가 출신 강유경 감독이 시나리오와 연출을 맡은 AI 단편영화 ‘THE LAST EDEN’이 공개 한 달도 채 되지 않아 해외 주요 영화제에서 잇따라 수상하며 세계적인 주목을 받고 있다.

‘THE LAST EDEN’은 Los Angeles Movie and Music Video Awards, New York International Film Awards, Berlin Indie Film Festival, Portugal Indie Film Festival에서 ‘최우수 AI 영화(Best AI Film)’로 선정되며 국제 영화제 4관왕을 달성했다.

이번 작품은 기존 AI 영화와 달리 탄탄한 서사를 기반으로 한 점이 특징이다. 강유경 감독은 17년간의 방송 경력을 바탕으로 시나리오와 연출을 맡았으며, 예능 PD들이 AI 아티스트로 참여해 완성도를 높였다.

특히 ‘프리즘 촬영 기법’을 AI 영상에 적용해 인물의 복합적인 감정과 심리적 분열을 효과적으로 표현했으며, 피부 질감과 미세한 표정까지 구현한 하이퍼 리얼리즘 영상으로 높은 몰입감을 선사한다.

영화는 2036년 화성을 배경으로, 억만장자들의 이주 뒤에 숨겨진 비밀을 통해 인간성, 기술 독점, 부의 불평등에 대한 메시지를 전달한다. 크리스마스부터 부활절까지 이어지는 서사는 ‘기술로 만든 가짜 낙원’의 허상을 상징적으로 보여준다.

또한 독일 국립음대 출신 정미선 교수가 음악 감독으로 참여해 AI 사운드와 국악, 클래식을 결합한 독창적인 음악으로 작품의 완성도를 높였다.

"THE LAST EDEN" secured the title of Best AI Film at four international film festivals: the Los Angeles Movie and Music Video Awards, New York International Film Awards, Berlin Indie Film Festival, and Portugal Indie Film Festival.

Unlike typical AI films that focus mainly on technology, this work is distinguished by its solid narrative foundation. Director Kang Yoo-kyung applied her 17 years of broadcasting experience to write and direct the film, while entertainment PDs participated as AI artists to enhance its quality.

Notably, the film applies the "prism filming technique" to AI-generated video to effectively visualize complex emotions and psychological fragmentation of characters. It delivers high immersion with hyper-realistic visuals that meticulously capture skin textures and subtle facial expressions.

Set on Mars in 2036, the film explores hidden secrets behind the migration of eleven billionaires, delivering profound messages on humanity, technological monopolies, and wealth inequality. The story arc runs from Christmas to Easter, symbolically portraying the illusion of a "fake paradise built by technology."

Additionally, music director Jung Mi-sun, a graduate of the German National Music University, contributed a unique soundtrack that fuses AI sounds with traditional Korean music and classical genres, elevating the film's artistic completeness.

Through the perfect blend of technology and narrative, "THE LAST EDEN" has proven the potential of K-AI content and continues to receive invitations from global film festivals.
