현대로템, 창원공장에서 ‘중동형 K2 전차(K2ME) 출하식’ 열고 중동형 K2 전차 플랫폼 실물 공개! Hyundai Rotem Holds ‘Middle East K2 Tank (K2ME) Shipment Ceremony’ at Changwon Plant and Unveils Actual Middle East K2 Tank Platform!

 현대로템이 경남 창원공장에서 중동형 K2 전차(K2ME) 출하식을 열고 개조 개발 중인 실물 플랫폼을 처음 공개했다. 이번 행사는 방위사업법 개정으로 방산 물자 자체 생산 및 보유가 가능해진 이후 열린 것으로, 국회, 지방자치단체, 방위사업청, 국방기술진흥연구소, 중동 국가 무관부 등 국내외 주요 인사가 참석했다.

현대로템 이용배 대표는 이번 연구개발 성과가 K-방산의 글로벌 경쟁력을 강화할 것이라며, 정부와 군, 협력사와 협의해 방위산업 경쟁력 제고에 힘쓸 것을 밝혔다. 기존 외국산 부품 사용으로 중동 수출에 제약이 있었으나, 부품 국산화율 약 90%에서 더욱 향상시켜 다양한 수출 거점 마련과 협력사 기술 자립 지원을 목표로 한다.

이번 중동형 K2 전차는 50도 이상 고온 환경에서 임무 수행이 가능하도록 냉각 하우징, 파워팩 방열기, 포탑보조냉방장치, 유압유 냉각장치, 유연소재 연료탱크 등 성능 개선 부품 5종을 적용했다. 특히 국산화된 파워팩에는 냉각 효과가 향상된 방열기와 냉각 하우징이 탑재되며, 탑승 환경과 전장품 기능 유지에 기여하는 포탑보조냉방장치도 포함된다.

현대로템은 정부의 상생전략에 따라 부품 국산화에 따른 비용 절감분을 협력사와 공유하는 ‘상생성과공유제’를 도입했다. 앞으로도 협력사와의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 기술 경쟁력 확보와 국산화 지원에 집중하고, 중동 수출 거점 확대를 통해 상생 기반을 강화할 계획이다.

Hyundai Rotem held a shipment ceremony for the Middle East variant K2 tank (K2ME) at its Changwon factory in Gyeongnam, unveiling the actual platform undergoing modification and development for the first time. This event took place following the amendment of the Defense Acquisition Program Act, which now allows defense contractors to independently produce and hold defense materials.

The Middle East K2 tank has been equipped with five upgraded components to perform missions reliably in high-temperature environments exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. These include a cooling housing, powerpack cooling radiator, auxiliary turret cooling system, hydraulic oil cooler, and flexible material fuel tank. Notably, the domestically produced powerpack features an enhanced cooling radiator and cooling housing, while the auxiliary turret cooling system helps maintain electronic equipment functionality and ensures crew comfort during operations.
