LG CNS, 6개월만에 짓는 AI 데이터센터 ‘AI 박스’ 출시! LG CNS launches AI Box, an AI data center built in just six months!

 LG CNS가 컨테이너 하나에 GPU 576장을 담을 수 있는 소형 데이터센터 ‘AI 박스’를 공개하며 AI 데이터센터 시장을 빠르게 확대하고 있다. AI 박스는 일반 데이터센터 구축에 2년 이상 걸리던 기간을 약 6개월로 단축시킬 수 있으며, 모듈형 설계로 수십 개 컨테이너를 결합해 대규모 하이퍼스케일 AI 데이터센터로도 확장 가능하다. 이를 통해 고객은 초기 투자 부담을 줄이고 필요에 따라 유연한 인프라 확장이 가능하다.

‘원 LG’ 기술력을 바탕으로 40년간 축적된 데이터센터 설계·구축·운영 역량을 집약했으며, LG전자와 LG에너지솔루션의 고품질 냉각·전력 장비를 통합해 고전력·고밀도 AI 환경에 최적화했다. AI 박스 1개당 IT 로드는 약 1.2MW이며, 최대 576장의 GPU를 수용한다.

기존 대형 데이터센터가 부지 확보와 설계상 시간 지연 문제로 급증하는 AI 수요에 신속히 대응하기 어렵다는 한계를 해결하는 솔루션으로 평가받고 있다. 첫 AI 박스는 부산 글로벌 클라우드 데이터센터에 구축되며, 향후 50여 개 AI 박스를 집적한 대규모 캠퍼스 조성을 계획하고 있다.

한편, 포춘 비즈니스 인사이트는 글로벌 AI 데이터센터 시장이 2030년까지 약 700조 원 규모로 성장할 것으로 전망하고 있다. LG CNS는 AI 박스를 통해 데이터센터 DBO(설계·구축·운영) 역량을 강화하고 AI 인프라 패키지 사업자로 도약할 계획이다.

LG CNS has unveiled a compact data center called the "AI Box," capable of housing up to 576 GPUs within a single container, accelerating expansion in the AI data center market. Unlike traditional data centers that take over two years to build, the AI Box can be deployed in approximately six months, thanks to its modular design that allows multiple containers to be combined and scaled into a hyperscale AI data center. This flexibility reduces initial investment burdens for clients while enabling infrastructure expansion as needed.

Built upon "One LG" technological expertise accrued over 40 years, the AI Box integrates LG Electronics’ and LG Energy Solution’s high-quality cooling and power equipment, optimizing the environment for high-power, high-density AI workloads. Each AI Box has an IT load capacity of about 1.2MW and supports up to 576 GPUs.

The AI Box addresses limitations faced by conventional large-scale data centers, such as site acquisition and design delays, which hinder quick response to rapid AI demand growth. The first AI Box will be installed at the Busan Global Cloud Data Center, with plans to establish a large campus comprising approximately 50 AI Boxes in the future.

According to Fortune Business Insights, the global AI data center market is expected to grow to around 700 trillion KRW by 2030. LG CNS aims to enhance its data center design-build-operate (DBO) capabilities through the AI Box and become a leading AI infrastructure package provider.
