제23회 서울국제환경영화제, 올해의 공식 포스터 및 국내외 경쟁부문 선정작 발표! The 23rd Seoul International Environmental Film Festival Announces This Year's Official Poster and Domestic and International Competition Selections!

 서울국제환경영화제(이사장 최열)가 제23회를 맞아 공식 포스터와 경쟁부문 본선 진출작을 공개했습니다.

올해 공식 포스터 '천공의 숲'은 AI 등 빠른 기술 발전 속에서 자연과 기술의 관계를 탐구하며, 자연이 인간에게 연민과 향수의 대상으로 남을 수 있다는 상상을 바탕으로 인공 자연의 모습을 하늘의 새, 바다의 물고기, 대지의 나비 등으로 형상화했습니다.

경쟁부문에는 전 세계 119개국에서 2133편의 작품이 출품됐고, 예선을 거쳐 한국 경쟁부문 19편, 국제 경쟁부문 21편 등 총 40편이 본선에 진출했습니다. 선정작들은 환경 불평등, 생태계 파괴, 노동과 돌봄, 윤리 등 다양한 주제를 심도 있게 다루며, 다큐멘터리뿐 아니라 다큐에세이, 애니메이션, 실험영화 등 장르를 넘나드는 작품들도 포함돼 대중 진입 장벽을 낮출 것으로 기대됩니다.

본선 진출작들은 심사를 통해 한국경쟁 대상 1000만원, 우수상 300만원, 관객심사단상 200만원, 국제경쟁 대상 800만원, 심사위원특별상 300만원, 관객상 등이 시상될 예정입니다.

한편 제23회 서울국제환경영화제는 6월 5일 롯데콘서트홀에서 개막하며, 어린이·청소년 대상 환경 교육 프로그램 ‘시네마그린틴’과 특별 상영회 ‘서울국제환경영화제 IN’ 등 다양한 관객 참여 프로그램도 준비되어 있습니다.

The 23rd Seoul International Environment Film Festival, hosted by the Environmental Foundation Chairman Choi Yeol, has unveiled its official poster and the lineup of finalists in the competition category.

This year’s official poster, titled "The Sky Forest," explores the relationship between nature and rapidly evolving technology, including AI. It envisions a future where nature becomes an object of human empathy and nostalgia, represented through artificial natural landscapes shaped as birds in the sky, fish in the sea, and butterflies on the land.

The competition received a total of 2,133 entries from 119 countries worldwide. After preliminary screening, 40 films have advanced to the finals, including 19 Korean entries (7 feature-length and 12 shorts) and 21 international works (10 feature-length and 11 shorts). The selected films cover a wide range of themes such as environmental inequality, ecosystem destruction, labor and care ethics, and expand the discourse beyond traditional ecological crises. Notably, the festival showcases diverse genres, from documentaries to docu-essays, animation, and experimental films, thereby lowering entry barriers for the general public.

Finalists will compete for awards including the Korean Competition Grand Prize with a 10 million KRW prize, Excellence Award (3 million KRW), Audience Jury Award (2 million KRW), International Competition Grand Prize (8 million KRW), Jurors' Special Award (3 million KRW), and Audience Award.

The 23rd Seoul International Environment Film Festival will officially open on June 5 at Lotte Concert Hall and will feature various audience engagement programs such as ‘Cinema Green Teen,’ an environmental education program for children and youth, and ‘Seoul Int’l Environment Film Festival IN,’ a special screening series held at diverse locations.
