섬에어, 3월 30일부터 김포-사천 노선의 정기편 운항 시작! 매일 4회 왕복 운항 예정! Sum Air will begin regular flights on the Gimpo-Sacheon route on March 30th! Four round-trip flights are scheduled daily!

 섬에어(대표 최용덕)가 3월 10일 국토교통부로부터 운항증명서(AOC)를 획득하며 상업 운항을 위한 최종 관문을 통과했다. 이에 따라 섬에어는 3월 30일부터 김포-사천 노선의 정기편 운항을 시작하며, 매일 4회 왕복 운항할 예정이다. 3월 12일부터는 부정기편을 주 6일, 하루 2회 왕복 운항하여 시민들에게 편리한 이동 환경을 제공한다. 항공권은 3월 10일부터 섬에어 공식 홈페이지(www.sumair.kr)에서 구매할 수 있다.

섬에어는 안전 운항을 위해 신조기 도입과 의료·구조 전문 승무원 및 기종 특화 운항·정비 인력 채용 등 철저한 안전체계를 갖추었으며, 국토교통부로부터 이를 공식 인정받았다.

이번 사업은 지역 간 항공 불균형 및 인천-지방공항 직항 문제 해결 대안으로 주목받고 있다. 이재명 대통령도 최근 확대국가관광전략회의에서 지방공항 연결 문제 해결을 강조한 바 있다.

섬에어는 앞으로 김포-울산, 사천-제주, 울산-제주, 김포-대마도 등 노선을 확장할 계획이며, 장기적으로 울릉도, 흑산도, 백령도 등 섬 지역 공항 취항도 추진한다. 이를 통해 국내 항공 인프라의 공백을 메우고 지역항공사로서 지역공항 활성화에 앞장설 전망이다.

SumAir (CEO Choi Yong-deok) obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on March 10, passing the final step toward commercial flight operations. SeomAir plans to begin regular flights on the Gimpo–Sacheon route from March 30, operating four round trips daily. Prior to this, starting March 12, it will operate irregular flights twice daily, six days a week, to provide convenient travel options for citizens. Tickets have been available on SumAir’s official website (www.sumair.kr) since March 10.

SumAir has established a robust safety system, including the introduction of new aircraft, hiring flight attendants with medical and rescue expertise, and employing specialized operational and maintenance personnel tailored to its aircraft type. The Ministry officially recognized these safety efforts.

This initiative is gaining attention as a solution to regional aviation imbalances and the issue of direct flights between Incheon and regional airports. President Lee Jae-myung recently emphasized the need to resolve connectivity issues at the Expanded National Tourism Strategy Meeting.

SumAir plans to expand its route network to include Gimpo–Ulsan, Sacheon–Jeju, Ulsan–Jeju, and Gimpo–Tsushima, and eventually aims to serve island airports such as Ulleungdo, Heuksando, and Baengnyeongdo. Through these efforts, SumAir intends to fill gaps in Korea’s aviation infrastructure and lead regional airport revitalization as a prominent regional air mobility operator.
