한전, AI 기반 발전소 운영 플랫폼의 첫 해외 기술 사업화에 성공하며 글로벌 전력 분야 e 플랫폼 시장 진출 신호탄 쐈다! KEPCO has successfully commercialized its first overseas technology for an AI-based power plant operation platform, signaling its entry into the global power sector e-platform market.

 한국전력(한전, 사장 김동철)이 AI 기반 발전소 운영 플랫폼인 IDPP(Intelligent Digital Power Plant)의 첫 해외 기술 수출에 성공했다고 밝혔다. 지난 3월 6일 베트남 하노이에서 베트남 전력공사 산하 EVNGENCO3와 3개 발전소(퓨미 1호기, 빈탄 2호기 포함, 총 2.2GW)에 IDPP 플랫폼을 공급하는 계약을 체결했으며, 사업비는 231만 달러, 기간은 16개월이다.

한전이 2017년부터 6년간 독자 개발한 IDPP 플랫폼은 대용량 발전소 데이터를 실시간 수집·분석하며 AI를 활용해 재생에너지 변동성에 대응, 전력 공급 안정성을 크게 개선한다. 데이터 추출 속도가 글로벌 솔루션보다 빠르고 AI 기능 확장이 유연하며, 추가 비용 없이도 플랫폼 확장이 가능해 경제성과 확장성에서 우수한 장점을 가진다.

이번 3개 호기 구축을 시작으로 한전은 EVNGENCO3와 협력해 총 14개 호기(6.3GW)로 확대할 계획이며, 베트남 전역 68개 발전소 대상 사업 확대 시 약 1.4억 달러 규모 수출 잠재력이 있다. 베트남 측은 연간 연료비, 대체전력 구매비, 유지보수비 등 약 440만 달러 운영비 절감 효과가 기대되며, 68호기 확대 시 연간 6600만 달러 경제적 편익이 예상된다.

Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO), led by President Kim Dong-chul, has successfully achieved its first overseas technology export of the AI-based power plant operation platform, IDPP (Intelligent Digital Power Plant). On March 6, a contract was signed in Hanoi, Vietnam, with EVNGENCO3, a subsidiary of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), to supply the IDPP platform to three power units (including Phu My 1 and Vinh Tan 2), totaling 2.2 GW. The contract amount is 2.31 million USD, with a project duration of 16 months.

Developed independently by KEPCO over six years since 2017, the IDPP platform collects and analyzes large-scale power plant operation data in real-time. It uses AI to respond to renewable energy variability, significantly improving power supply stability. The platform offers faster data extraction than global commercial solutions, flexible AI function expansion, and economic scalability without additional extraction or configuration costs.

Starting with these three units, KEPCO plans to expand collaboration with EVNGENCO3 to a total of 14 units (6.3 GW). If the project expands to 68 power plants throughout Vietnam, the export potential is estimated at approximately 140 million USD. For Vietnam, annual operational cost reductions totaling about 4.4 million USD are expected through savings in fuel costs, substitute power purchase, and O&M expenses; expanding to 68 units could yield economic benefits of around 66 million USD annually.
